Covenant Shores, (Mercer Island, Washington), part of a nation wide family of CARF-CCAC accredited CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest AAHSA Ziegler Top 100, is seeking a Full Time day shift RN. This position directs the total resident plan of care, administers medications, provides nursing treatments, provides continuous assessments of residents, and directs and supervises ancillary staff in the care of her/his assigned residents. Oversees and coordinates all implementations of care in an efficient and organized manner.

The successful candidate will! have:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing ! and current RN license issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing, required.

• At least one year’s experience, preferred.

This position reports to the Director of Nursing, and under her/his direction is responsible for providing quality medical nursing care to residents of the Health Center, including supervision of ancillary staff in the accomplishment of their responsibilities. In performance of duties the Resident Care Registered Nurse coordinates and communicates with residents’ physician, family, other professionals, and caregivers the ordered care for each resident. Admits and coordinates proper discharge procedures including emergent transfers to Acute Care settings, to ensure continuity of care. Accomplishes assessment procedure on residents, prepares short-term resident plan of care, and provides information for completion of nursing components of MDS. Receives, carries out, implement and signs off all physician phone order. Admi! nisters prescribed medications and medical treatments properly and accurately following the standard principles of medication administration. Monitors resident mental, physical and/or emotional changes. Consults with physician re: resident significant change in condition and/or progress. Note any new orders or changes to orders and implements the order. Ensures residents receive appropriate nursing services based on their individual care needs including procedures such as catheter placement and care, colostomy care, suction, dressings, naso-gastric tubes and other treatment. Performs nursing functions in a professional manner to the extent and within limits of the scope of licensure with the State of Washington.

Must be able to accomplish walking, bending, pushing, and lifting required in the position. Must have the mobility to respond to emergencies. Must have manual dexterity necessary to use equipment necessary for performance of nursing duties, including administr! ation of medications, accomplishment of treatments, and operation of eq! uipment such as scales, bathing units, beds, etc. Must be able to perform CPR on residents. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Must be able to understand verbal communication from residents, family and staff. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Demonstrate good public relation and telephone skills. Ability to represent the facility well to residents, staff, family, and visitors. Ability to lead, motivate and encourage other in their job performance. Demonstrate a caring and empathic attitude for residents. Ability to use word, excel and confidence to navigate computers and other IT equipment for work-related use. Demonstrate an understanding and support of the Mission Statement of Covenant Shores and Covenant Retirement Communities.
