This job is responsible for planning, directing and evaluating a broad range of systems, programs and procedures to ensure the timely, safe, and appropriate delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic patient care for the regional clinic-based cardiovascular/thoracic service line activities in accordance with the professional standards of the clinical disciplines, applicable regulatory requirements and business/patient care objectives of the organization. An incumbent provides strategic leadership in assessing, developing and implementing initiatives/activities which improve financial performance/productivity, maximize effective utilization of resources, enhance the service satisfaction of all identified customer groups and generate a competitive advantage for FHS.

Work also includes the following for clinic-based services: 1) developing and executing effective service line marketing strategies and plans; 2) developing/managing/evaluating the operations/capital budget for the service line; 3) analyzing current/new service delivery models and appropriate technologies to develop change recommendations; 4) directing the development/implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance/streamline current procedures/processes and take advantage of regional synergies; 5) ensuring that overall objectives relating to consistency of standards and customer service are achieved; and 6) directly managing subordinate site-based management staff.

Job duties require considerable knowledge of the specialized principles and practices related to health care management in order to evaluate and make viable recommendations for improving health care delivery system(s) and enhancing organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Also requires knowledge of cardiovascular/thoracic service line operations and considerable management expertise relating to business planning, process improvement, budget administration and personnel management. Performance improvement efforts cover a variety of processes, and an incumbent must be sufficiently knowledgeable to recognize important synergies and opportunities in clinical outcomes, cost containment, patient safety/satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Education:
BachelorĂ¢€™s degree in nursing, business/healthcare administration, or a related discipline, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible of operational experience in cardiovascular services or mid- or senior-level management work experience, including four years experience in healthcare management required.

Direct work experience in the cardiovascular field and clinical service line development is preferred.

Additional qualifying work experience may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the degree requirement.

MasterĂ¢€™s degree in a discipline related to the duties of the position is preferred.
