Job Summary: Administer stress echo and nuclear stress tests.

Job Functions & Responsibilities 1. Prep patient for exercise testing (stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, nuclear) which includes obtaining brief history, anthropometric measurements, vital signs, and 12-lead EKG’s. 2. Start IV’s and administers contrast agents or medications as indicated by protocol. 3! . Administer and supervise all aspects of the exercise tests. ! This includes selecting the test protocol, operating the treadmill stress system, measuring vital signs, EKG interpretation, assessing signs and symptoms and determining the test endpoint. 4. Provides documentation for all aspects of the testing procedure per protocol. 5. Consults with physician as needed for patient test responses. 6. Respond to urgent and emergency responses in the clinic. 7. Participates in crash cart checks and emergency response drills. 8. May perform other assignments as necessary.

Job & Department/Unit Specific Competencies • Provides patient care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, specific to the age of the patient population served in the department or assigned nursing unit. • Adheres to organizational patient safety standards relevant to the department or assigned nursing unit. • Applies HIPAA privacy and security standards relevant to the assigned job and department or nursing unit.

! Equipment Competencies • Must possess basic skills to use Microsoft Windows, navigate in a Windows environment, use web browser software and send/receive e-mail via Microsoft Outlook.

Nature of the Work The work is diverse and complex. The impact of errors may be significant if patients are affected negatively. Position works closely with echo techs, exercise physiologists, nuclear techs and physicians.

Typical Working Conditions Work is performed inside the clinic setting. Normal work hours are standard business hours. Work requires a person to sit or stand for moderate periods of time. Position involves handling and administering contrast agents and medications.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education Background • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.

Special Training / Skills • Proficiency in reading, writing, comprehending and speaking English as required for business necessity. • Must be able to communicate in ! a clear and precise manner to physicians, co-workers, patients, and the! general public. • Competent in interpreting 12-lead EKG’s.

Work Experience • This position requires 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. • Experience in stress testing or cardiac rehabilitation preferred. • Experience in cath lab, critical care or progressive care nursing units preferred.

License or Certification • Valid, current, active Washington State RN license. • Current BLS • Current ACLS

Physical Abilities 1. Able to lift/assist patient’s to/from wheelchairs and/or exam tables. 2. Walking, climbing, stooping, crawling, talking, reaching, hearing, kneeling, grasping, balancing, seeing, reading, repetitive motion of feet and hands, handling and feeling.
