Description:

Where you work matters! Swedish is looking for a Nurse Auditor to work in the Billing Office at Metropolitan Park East in Seattle, WA.

The Nurse Auditor is responsible for scheduling audits, meeting with auditors, posting audit findings, comprising quarterly reports of audit results, acting as a resource for patient financial services staff, and meeting with patients and/or family who have concerns about their bill/charges.

In this position you will:

  • Write appeals on denied claims.
  • Analyze chart and split claims as needed.
  • Work account and claim edit work queues as needed.
  • Perform quarterly CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facility) audits.
  • Verify charges on High dollar Medicare Claims.
  • Perform defense audits to satisfactory resolution.
  • Conduct research and analyze coding and charge errors, and works with HIM and departments to resolve such errors.
  • Stay informed of new and/or changing regulations as well as payer policy time limits, and incorporate updates into daily operations.
  • Resolve issues holding up timely claim payment, including requests for medical records, coordin ation with Billing staff.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing Baccalaureate degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required. Applicants without a BSN degree must actively pursue and attain a BSN within five years of hire.
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington
  • Two years prior clinical experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Working knowledge of EPIC medical records and a broad range of clinical experience
  • Experience working in an acute setting
  • Experience researching and analyzing coding and charge or claim edits
  • ICU or Emergency room experience
  • Case Management and writing appeals experience
  • Experience with researching and analyzing coding and charge or claim edits
