This unique Industrial Hygienist (IH) position has statewide responsibility for researching, developing, drafting, and recommending policies and interpretations of industrial hygie! ne rules. As IH, you are responsible for helping to update existing industrial hygiene rules or develop new rules to respond to emerging hazards. In addition, you provide training on rules, policies, and industrial hygiene topics to both internal and external stakeholders. Some of what youâll do · Research federal regulations and regulatory rules, as well research various industry and business practices. · Organize, write, and edit comprehensive technical materials and reports. · Answer technical questions about occupational safety and health rules. · Plan, schedule and conduct field research surveys to identify industrial hazards and recommend remedial solutions to eliminate hazardous conditions. · Provide specialized technical expertise to industry, interpret information, and respond to inquiries from the public, government, and industry. · Support the appeals process; review files prior to hearings for completeness, testify and advise the Assistant Attorney Gener! al, Hearing Officers and others in their preparation for heari! ngs, conferences, and settlements. · Assist in the enforcement inspections of employersâ workplace and determine whether employers are complying with safety and health standards. · Develop and deliver safety training, outreach materials, and presentations. · Work with industry associations (labor & management) maintaining and developing relationships.
Who should apply Professionals with bachelorâs degree in Occupational safety or health, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical, mechanical or sanitary engineering, Environmental Science, Nursing, Medicine, Biology, or related field. Five (5) years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist working in the field or in a governmental enforcement activities, including three (3) or more yearsâ experience as an Industrial Hygienist 3 or equivalent. What we are looking for · Ability to recognize and evaluate chemical, physical, and biological hazards associated with workplace and industrial operations · Applied! knowledge of occupational safety and health rules under Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act. · Ability to analyze and interpret technical materials including DOSH regulations, policies, and procedures. · Write clearly and persuasively, compose comprehensive reports, and present concise and compelling oral presentations. · Work effectively and collaboratively in a team focused environment.
