Description: Whidbey General Hospital is presently looking of Clinical Nurse Specialist right now, this position will be placed in Washington. Detailed specification about this position opportunity please read the description below. POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert in the nursing management of the adult medical-surgical patient who requires hospitalization. The! advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in the care of the acutely ill adult and the application of evidence-based practice standards utilizing effective collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring, and change leadership skills. The CNS and the Nurse Director/Manager are partners in leading the delivery of nursing clinical practice. The CNS is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies and to facilitate their application at the bedside. The CNS is responsible for maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit/system, local, state and/or national level. The position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.

EDUCATION / TRAINING
Masters Degree in Nursing with a clinical focus in the care of the adult. Graduate preparation mus! t have included clinical application of the CNS role component! . If clinical application of the CNS role was not included in the candidate’s master’s preparation, a post-masters CNS certificate must be obtained within 2 years of date of hire to maintain employment - CNS Advanced Practice Certification within 2 years of employment. Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience in the hospital setting required. Experience in the care of critical care patients preferred.
