A civilian Emergency Medicine Physician position is immediately available at Naval Hospital Bremerton ! in the Emergency Medicine Department, a 13-bed, Level III, wit! h 23,700 annual patient volume. This is a full-accredited, community-based acute care, Family Medicine training and obstetrical hospital conveniently located just off State Route 3, approximately 5 miles north of Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and 10 miles south of Naval Base Kitsap Bangor. The hospital's more than 1,400 dedicated military, civilian, contract, and volunteer staff of doctors, nurses, hospital corpsmen and support staff administer compassionate, professional care to over 60,000 eligible military families residing within its West Puget Sound area.

Employment is term, expected to last more than one year, and may be extended up the maximum of four years. The position involves rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Accredited MD or DO, or ECFMG or Fifth Pathway certification
Active physician license awarded by any state

If selected-you are required to successfully complete a probationary period DUTIES:

Care for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatrics.

Manage uncontrolled case load of life-threatening emergencies, code blue, and high volume of non-urgent patients.

Integrate aspects of medical specialties such as emergency airway procedures of anesthesiology, ventilator and vasoactive drug management of critical car! e, invasive vascular access of general surgery, trauma resuscitation of! trauma surgery, acute stroke management of neurology, acute myocardial infarction and dysrhythmia management of cardiology, precipitous newborn delivery of obstetrics.

Manage the admission and transfer of patients including transportation by air or ground.

Serve as a recognized regional expert in managing radiological emergencies (this region has numerous nuclear-powered and capable sites) and expert in acute presentation of critical illnesses.

Teach and mentor students as part of the hospital's internal and residency programs.

Supervise and train Emergency Department staff including both military and civilian mid-level providers. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must reflect you possess the following education, training, and experience required to perform the duties of this position. Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work if your resume indicates the total number of hours per week.

Degree : MD or DO from an accredited school in the United States or Canada. Is your degree from a foreign medical school? If yes, then you must have a permanent ECFMG or Fifth Pathway Certificate. Please make sure your application includes your ECFMG or Fifth Pathway Certificate number including date awarded.

Training/experience : At least 5 years of residency training in emergency medicine or equivalent experience and/or training (e.g., completion of 3-year emergency medicine residency and 2 years post-residency Emergency Medicine physician experience).

License : Active, permanent, full, unrestricted physician license to practice medicine in any state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory o! f the United States.

Board certification is desired but not re! quired.

REQUIREMENTS:
