The NAC performs basic nursing procedures in providing direct and indirect assistance to patients of all ages under the supervision of a licensed nurse and facilitates communica! tion of patient needs to licensed nursing personnel. High School diploma or equivalent; Certification of completion of a state approved Nursing assistant course and a current state license; Recent experience as an NAC with a minimum of one year preferred; A generalized medical knowledge base and basic knowledge of rehab terms and self-care deficits; Understanding of Rehab-specific equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification of completion of a state approved Nursing assistant course and a current state license.
- A generalized medical knowledge base and basic knowledge of rehab terms and self-care deficits.
- Understanding of Rehab-specific equipment. Ability to read charts and testing equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFI CATIONS
- Recent experience as an NAC with a minimum of one year
SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES - All functions are essential functions unless oth! erwise noted. Recognize and be able to meet the basic needs of! patients. Utilize psychomotor skills under the direction and supervision of licensed nurses and physicians in direct and indirect patient care as directed by the program plan of care. Maintain close communication with the team leader regarding the assessment of the response of patients and their families to medical care and regarding their needs for further education. Appropriately record patient care and program-specific quality assessment monitoring. Understand and follow the guidelines for patient safety, patient rights, legal issues and program standards (policies and procedures). Develop the knowledge of growth and development of all ages of patients treated at St. Lukeâs Rehabilitation Institute. Demonstrate an understanding of your own role on the team and of the roles of each member of the team, maintain effective working relationships with the trans-disciplinary staff and be flexible in filling staffing needs. Be accountable for promoting the corporate philosoph! y of service excellence and guest relations by effectively relating with patients, their families, visitors, the public and all members of the staff of St. Lukeâs Rehabilitation Institute. Consistently demonstrate behavior that enhances professional performance and reflects the key moral commitments, ethical principles, values and philosophy of the institute as set forward in the mission statement. Respond to emergency situations in an effective manner, according to established protocols. Attend required education in-services and staff meetings.
