Swedish Medical Center is offering an exciting career opportunity for experienced Gastro nurses at our state-of-the-art facility in Issaquah, a 175-bed hospital that recently opened and is adding new cases every day. This opportunity is targeted to the nurse skilled in procedural care of patients undergoing a wide variety of gastro and pulmonary procedures, as Swedish offers some of the most advanced and comprehensive gastro care in the region. Nurses who work in our Issaquah Gastro department will have the rare opportunity to be part of a brand new environment and patient care team, with exposure to both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
This is a regular, hourly, variable shift length, Rotating shift (primarily days) position, 1.0 FTE, 80 hours bi-weekly. Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington. Current BLS and ACLS Certification required.
Experience acquired from Accredited Registered School of Nursing. Minimum of one year in general medicine/surgical experience preferred. Ability to operate, or learn to operate, unit-specific equipment as outlined in defined competencies. Automated BP, pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring. Ability to perform with dexterity when assisting physicians with scope advancement procedures. Working knowledge of endoscopic and pulmonary scopes with various adjunct accessories. Working knowledge of and the use of proper scopes and accessories for: a) EGD - Esophagoscopy; b) Colonoscopy - Flexible Sigmoid; c) ERCP; d) Bronchoscopy preferred. Adequate knowledge to perform assessments, plan patient care, provide direct care, and educate and orient families and staff. Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to complete mathematical calculation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, equivalencies). Must have knowledge of human growth and development to modify services to the age and development stage of the patient. Ability to perform a wide variety of nursing functions while clients are undergoing diagnostic tests or treatment for illness. Understanding of conscious sedation drugs, doses, and reversal agents. Working knowledge of the following specific nurse driven procedures preferred: Esophageal Manometry; 240 PH; Ano Rectal Manometry; PMTL; Gastric Analysis; Stimulated Gastric Analysis.
