This job is responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures at a technical level in accordance with establi! shed protocols established by management to facilitate the consistency of results. Work involves performing MRI scans, including a variety of procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. An incumbent assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of MRI operating equipment.

Essential Duties:
Executes all diagnostic MRI procedures operating equipment such as a 1.5 Magnet and/or laser processors and associated patient care equipment; follows formal protocols for all work assignments; explains procedure(s) to patient and responds to questions; completes assigned examinations including filming, jacket retrieval, pulling previous exam and report, cleaning of room.

Delivers patient care for all age groups while using diagnostic imaging equipment, serving as a liaison between patient and radiologist; provides physician with pertinent information related to diagnosis and treatment management of a patient; performs ba! sic nursing activities in regard to patient care; responds to ! emergency situations while delivering patient care; consults with nursing floor regarding changes in patient's condition; documents in-patient charts with patient care notes and completes incident forms for the time patient is in the MRI suite..

Provides for patient comfort and safety with respect to the high field magnet by utilizing appropriate procedures/accessories; operates equipment consistent with standard usage guidelines and techniques.

Performs incidental general office duties such as answering phones, scheduling, filing and maintaining patient records; ensures that information on MRI patients is recorded in the appropriate manner.

Participates in Quality Improvement audits and activities as required.

Recognizes that continuing education is vital to maintaining and advancing the profession; keeps MRI skills current, demonstrating evidence of continuing education to include department meetings, individualized learning opportuniti! es from radiologist and related classes.

Qualifications

Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology.

Experience:
One year of work experience as a MRI Technologist.

License/Certification:
American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) is required.

State licensure as a Radiological Technologist required.

MRI Certification is desirable.

Current BLS Certification required.
