POSITION : 6 hours daily. Assist teachers in the care of Special
Education students, with daily instructional and non-instructional activities
and student management. Union
participation required.
REQUIREMENTS : High School
Diploma. Para-Educator Core Competencies
required by the State of Washington preferred.
Experience/training working with students who have special needs.
Must have
(1) completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; (2)
obtained an associate's (or higher) degree;
or (3) met a rigorous
standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local
academic assessment
(ETS test), knowledge of and the ability to
assist in instructing reading,! writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate,
reading rea! diness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
Ability to work and
communicate well with staff members.
Ability to follow a variety of prescribed
education strategies.
Ability to
independently complete assigned tasks.
Read Well trained
Experience working
with behaviorally challenged children.
Experience teaching
reading, writing and math.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
& RESPONSIBILITIES : Assist in student's
educational plan including development and implementation of instructional
program
Assist
teacher in classroom operation and instruction
Assist with
behavior management programs, closely monitor students behavior on school
campus and make appropriate supervisory decisions; may be required to use physical restraining
methods appropriately in the behavior management process
Regularly
lift over 40 lbs individually and push or ! pull over 100 lbs.
Lift up to
80 lbs in escort hold
Manage
required forms and records
Collect
student data
Assist with
loading and unloading of students on buses
Experience
with computers preferred
Perform
catheterization regularly under the supervision of nursing services.
Toileting
supervision as well as diapering
Love
& Logic in the Classroom-training
Right
Response Training
Autism
training
Picture
Exchange Systems experience
