Maxim Staffing Solutions is currently seeking experienced Ophthalmic Techâs on a temp-to-permanent contract, in the greater Seattle area to assist with local facility needs in: Kirkland! , DT Seattle and Northgate clinics. Candidates would need to have a minimum of 2 years professional experience and hold an active COA license.
Minimum Requirements:
- 2-4 years of applicable experience
- Active (COA) License/Registration
- Ability to clear Nationwide Criminal History report
- Updated Immunization Documentation (TB/PPD, MMR, Varicella, Physical, Influenza, etc.)
- Active American Heart Association CPR/BLS Card
- Computer Skills: Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite required, Basic level in Medinformatix, Medflow, NextGen preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred; Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) or Certified Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT-C) preferred
- Optical Coherence Tomography (Heidelberg Engineering)
- Anterior and Posterior Segment.! li>
- Pachymetry
- Humphrey Visual Field Testing !
- Backup and archiving of data from Special Test equipment.
- Triages phone calls from patients and outside contacts in accordance with the standard of care for Ophthalmology.
- Take and document patients' medical histories.
- Maintain and order ophthalmic inventory of supplies.
- Verify patientâs insurance coverage.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
- Operate ophthalmic equipment, such as Auto Refractors, Phoropters, Slit Lamp,
- Keratometers, Projectors, Tono-Pens, or Retinoscopes.
- Conduct binocular disparity tests to assess depth perception.
- Conduct tonometry or tonography tests to measure intraocular pressure.
- Measure corneal curvature with keratometers or ophthalmometers to aid in the diagnosis of conditions, such as astigmatism.
- Assess refractive conditions of eyes, using retinoscopes.
- Conduct ocular motility tests to measure function of eye muscles.! li>
- Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision.
- Measure and record lens power, using Lensometers.
- Measure visual acuity, including near, distance, pinhole, or dynamic visual acuity, using appropriate tests.
- Take anatomical or functional ocular measurements of the eye or surrounding tissue, such as axial length measurements.
- Call patients to inquire about their post-operative status or recovery.
- Clean or sterilize ophthalmic or surgical instruments.
- Maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
- Adjust or make minor repairs to spectacles or eyeglasses.
- Instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
- Assist physicians in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery.
- Completes various documents and forms such as consent forms, DOL statements, or surgery scheduling paperwork.
- Safety Officer for the Clinic.
- Responsible for new hire safety trai! ning at Clinic, weekly eyewash stations check,
- monthly safety ! checks of equipment (i.e. glucose monitors, O2 tanks, AED),
- collection of expired medications, attendance at Monthly Safety Meeting, First Aid
- Kit supply monitoring, hazard assessment, coordinate Annual Safety Training with
- Safety Chairman.
- May be asked to work on projects or complete delegated assignments as needed.

Responsibilities include:
- Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, central and peripheral visual field tests; ocular motility tests; color vision tests; pharmacological pupil tests; tonometry, tonography and ! tension tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation.
- Examines the cornea, lens and anterior chamber of the eye using a slit lamp and note variations from normal.
- Measures acuity of patient, with and without glasses, for distance and near vision; obtain optical and lensometry measurements to determine lens prescription and correct acuity problems; record findings on patient chart.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) preferred and/or per state requirements.
- One (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred.
- Current BLS card.
- Current physical exam, if required by state regulations or contract specifications.
- Current TB test or chest x-ray.
