JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for prescribing, delegating and coordinating all nursing care through utilization of the nursing process and for meeting the unit standards of nursing practice. Assesses treats and cares for patients in a variety of age groups which may include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities needed to perform this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
Education/Training: Completion of a recognized program to obtain a Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington. License/Certification: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Washington. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire. Additional certification required per clinical group must be provided at time of hire or within specified time frame per Swedish Edmonds policy:
Cardiac Cath Lab/IR: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Childbirth Center: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Critical Care (ICU/CCU/PCU): Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Emergency Services: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
Medical/Surgical/Ortho (5W, 8W): None
OR, Day Surgery, Endoscopy: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU): Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Psychiatric Services: None
Experience: Recent experience in an acute-care facility or related work experience preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of patient care techniques and procedures in the assessment, treatment and care of patients in a variety of age groups which may include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, staff and medical professionals. Sufficient skills and attributes required to fulfill the essential job functions as defined under accountabilities for a specific area or unit. Knowledge of and ability to apply universal safety precautions and infection control procedures. Demonstrated ability to perform the physical demands of the position, as well as the essential job functions.
